Ways to Become Intentional

by Jonathan R Baldock

Colossians Ch.4 v.5, 6
5. Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. 6. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.

How do you act?
Be wise in the way you act with unbelievers, since people who are unbelievers are watching to see if there is a difference in us, are you different from them. Are you Pessimistic or Optimistic about things? How we act in life’s situations and circumstances is a witness to the unbeliever. How we handle situations and circumstances, how we act. People are hoping to see a difference in us but a lot of unbelievers don’t see that difference because we act the same as them.

Opportunities
We as believers in Christ need to make the most of every opportunity that presents itself in our interactions with the unbelieving peoples that come and go in our lives. We need to open our eves and be aware of situations, be aware of peoples needs.

Psalm 51
1. Have mercy of me, O God, according to our steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out any transgressions. 2. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me of my sin. 3. For I know my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. 4. Against You, You alone have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are justified in your sentence and blameless when you pass judgment. 5. Indeed, I was born guilty, a sinner when my mother conceived me. 6. You desire truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart. 7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have crushed rejoice. 9. Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 10. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. 11. Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. 12. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit. 13. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. 14. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your deliverance. 15. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare praise. 16. For you have no delight in sacrifice; if I were to give a burnt offering, you would not be pleased. 17. The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. 18. Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, 19. then you will delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Kind and Pleasant Words.
Make sure your words that you use and come out of your mouth are always kind and pleasant. Don’t be preachy or pushy towards the stubborn unbeliever, you will only push them away even further from God. God will bring people into our lives. This is why it is especially important to be mindful of ‘how we act’ towards the unbelieving peoples that come and go in your lives each day. What comes out of your mouths and how we react back to people who may be a little unpleasant towards us for whatever reason. How we react and what we say says a lot about who we are spiritually and tells the unbeliever a lot about us also, are we different from them or are we the same.
Be also ready to give the appropriate answer to questions that the unbelieving peoples may have for us then they interact with us. Praying before we go out into the world each day, scripture memorization, our attitude towards life; Pessimistic or Optimistic, and be aware all the time of each and every situation both good and bad.
